  • Early Man used to live in caves during winters. They were great hunters and gatherers and hunted animals like mammoths for food and used their skin for clothes and making shelters during summers. They used to eat fruits, berries, plants and nuts. They used stones as tools and knives.
  • They were nomads and used to travelled from one place to another for food, shelter, suitable climate and security. They used tools made of stone. Homo Erectus were the first one to use fire for cooking, warming and scaring animals away. The did cave paintings as a means of expression and creativity.
  • Later Human developed farming, kept animals and learned more skills like pottery. They made clothes by spinning and weaving wool. Pottery was used as a means of communication and expression. They made houses with straw roofs. They stopped their nomadic life.
  • They used clay pots to store grains and water. They made their homes near river to get fresh water for drinking and cleaning.
  • Farming began when people learned how to plant sees to grow food. They grew wheat and barely. Sickle was used for cutting crops. They made tools from stone, bone and wood. They also made things from metal. The first metal tool was made of copper.
  • Small farming villages gradually grew and lead to the development of first cities.Some of the first cities in the world were in the Middle East, in an area called Sumer.
