You know nothing of our struggles. You just sit at home all day. You could be doing more to uphold the Declaration of Independence!
What more can I be doing for the Patriots' cause?
*British Plans*
Maybe I know more than I thought.
Leading up to the war, Anne Wilson's family live a peaceful life in New York. Her father is a well-respected British officer who is hated by the patriots. Anne's family learns of British intentions to retake America by targeting her homeland. Anne believes that the patriots are the correct side and that her father has been led astray. Anne is not looking forward to war.
Die you traitor.
Life was much different after the war started. One day while Anne was walking to the market, she ran into a girl around her age. The unknown girl, Sarah, spit at Anne's feet and called her a Torrie. Anne tried to explain how she thought the same as Sarah and how they went through the same struggles. Sarah put Anne in her place and explained how she did nothing for the patriot and said she needed to be doing more.
If you want life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness then you have to trust me!
*British Secrets*
At one of her father's parties, Anne realizes she hears about British strategy quite a bit. Anne wants to share this information with someone who will use it to uphold what she believes in. Anne truly believes that men are created equally, and everyone is born with rights. The British are not protecting her ideology, so she must turn her back on the people she loves. The Continental Army is the only true answer for Anne.
Another spy for the Continental Army, Nathan Hale is caught. Hale is publicly executed. Anne is left very distraught. She is scared to continue down the path she has started, but the hanging of a patriot only solidifies Anne's idea that she is correct about Britain. They do not treat men equally, and she will continue to work against them.
Anne realizes there are many more spies in New York than she realized. After much convincing, Anne gets a man, Robert Townsend, to trust her and take her on. Anne and Robert work together to spread information about the British Army. Anne's connection to her dad becomes very useful.
Anne is very successful throughout the war. No one ever suspects the officer's daughter as a major leak. Anne successfully spies on the British Army and uses many sneaky tactics to keep her messages a secret. Anne even used invisible ink. Even though Anne betrayed her family and her country, she knows she did the right thing.
