- She then became a teacher but she wanted to do more, so she opened the first public school in Bordentown New Jersey. But after a man was hired as the principle as the school she opened and she was getting paid half his pay she left. She then founded the American Red Cross in 1880, which is still a very important foundation up to date!
- Clara Barton is originally from Middlesex County where she grew up. This is where she self taught herself about nursing. This came in handy because she then volunteered to be a nurse in the civil war when she no experience!
