- Romanticism was a reaction to the Enlightenment movement. It surges during a social crisis taking place in Europe.

- No! Nothing compares to romantic writing!
- I'm tired of romanticism! I want to try new ways of writing!
- Authors like Lord Byron, Johann Wolfgang, and Victor Hugo found an “escape” from reality by writing books that made a lot of emphasis on those things that were beautiful and ideal. Some philosophers disagreed about the principles of romanticism.
- Falling Action
- Well... we tried our best to keep this movement going
- Yeah.. I guess literature has to keep evolving
- Writes begin to be lost in their own imagination and some of the problems that the world was going through were being pushed aside.

- I have an idea!
- Some philosophers were tired of romanticism, as people were looking for ways to be more direct or crude when writing literature. Romanticism was stopping them from doing so.
- Those who followed the romantic movement failed to carry the movement on and times were rapidly changing; society was looking forward to a new style of writing
- The Romantic movement fades out and is “replaced” by realism, which surges in the second half of the XIX century, in France.
