In 1689, John Locke had a concept of "natural rights", which protect a human beings right from being taken away. In 1776, Thomas Jefferson had borrowed that concept from John Locke and put it inside the Decleration of Independence. Instead of it being "Life, Liberty, and Property" from John Locke. It's "Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happiness". These rights should be protected by our government because they will receive power to enforce laws that protects peoples lives.

Either way, the King couldn't create the army because the army had no legislatures to approve it. This supported independence because it showed proof to them that the British Government were breaking their fundamental contract.
You Didn't Get Permission To Do That!!
