  • Rule of Law= no one is above the law and everyone is equal under it.When a government violates due process it offends rule of law because they must respect your legal rights, it must be equal.

  • -Accountability before the law-all people are legally responsible for their actions, No one is able to break the law and Constitution allows for impeachment of public officials-Constant application of the law-Everyone should be treated the same by the legal system and all suspects entitled to legal representation-Enforcement of the law-Governments have duty to prevent crime and violence and includes police protection
  • Yes Rule of law does! There is Accountability before the law, Constant application of the law, Enforcement of the law, and Transparency of legal institutions

  • One example of a supreme court case that has to do with Rule of law is United States v. Nixon but well take more about that another time!
  • Lets move on to talk abut citizenship
  • There are 3 ways to become a citizen and that is naturalization, law of blood, and law of soil
  • Lets begin with Law of soil!
  • Law of soil=natural born
  • Lets go on to Law of blood!
  • Law of soil= born in the U.S-automatically a citizen
  • We both are citizens due to Law of blood!
  • Also one extra thing if you were born on U.S territory you are also citizen
  • Law of blood=at least one parent has to be a U.S citizen for you to automatically be a U.S citizen
  • Next lets move to the other way you can become a citizen. You can become naturalized!
  • Naturalization is the process of becoming a citizen if you were not born in the U.S or have parents that are.

  • Obligations are duties that as a citizen is mandatory meani-ng you have to do them
  • Some examples of responsibilities is to be involved with your community/ attend public meetings, vote, volunteer, run and hold elective office, communicate with government officials to influence government actions, be informed, Do community service, and respect others rights.
  • Responsibilities are actions that are not mandatory but are expected to do as citizens to help the economy
