  • Hey there! My name is 'the rock Johnson' and I am the coolest rock out there! Today, I will show you the cool way rocks are made. There are three types of rock types we will learn about. They are called Igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, and metamorphic rocks.
  • The process of an igneous rock forming starts from magma. Magma is a hot molten rock that lies beneath the earth's surface. The rock close to the magma is heated. Then, the molten rock rises to the surface under pressure, to cool and form Igneous rocks.
  • After years of weathering and erosion, the rocks finally land on the surface of a river or sea.
  • After weathering and eroding, the rocks break down into pebbles and sand/mud, creating sediments. Afterwards, they float around for a while , and slowly start to sink. These small rocks go through the process of compaction (when sediments pile up on top of each other) and cementation (Hardens the sediments). Practically, layers of sediment build up and are compressed into SEDIMENTARY ROCKS.
  • Due to continuous heat and pressure the rocks get crushed down by other layers to form a rock called 'metamorphic rock'...
  • After all these steps, the rock will end up melting back to magma, and the cycle will start again.
