  • Hi Shoneil! We are fine.
  • No!
  • Hi Avika and Kanishka! How are you both?
  • Do you know about Alexander the great?
  • So, let me tell you!
  • This is a book that I once read, it shows very much information about Alexander the great.
  • Alexander III of Macedon, commonly known as Alexander the Great, was a king of the Greek kingdom of Macedon, and conqueror of the Persian Empire. He is considered one of the greatest military geniuses of all time. Alexander was born in 356 BC in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia. He was the son of Philip II, King of Macedonia, and Olympias, the princess of neighbouring Epirus. Alexander spent his childhood watching his father transform Macedonia into a great military power, and watching him win victory after victory on the battlefields throughout the Balkans. He spent most of his ruling years on an unprecedented.
  • Alexander and his army encountered a slightly larger Persian force awaiting him in a defensive formation on the banks of the river Granicus. The Persians, well aware of the cohesion problems the phalanx had in attacking across even a small river. were drawn up on the far bank of the river protected by muddy, slippery banks. Alexander and his generals rode along the river studying the Persian deployment, the veteran commanders of Philip II advised against a frontal attack that seemed almost suicidal. Alexander responded that the very fact the Persians had chosen a defensive deployment showed how much they feared the Macedonians. Concluding that he had the moral advantage, he ordered the army to attack. He led the charge personally dressed in his distinctive armor. He was wounded and the helmet he wore was split by a blow from a Persian sword, but his army won the day. In a text book, tactical sense, this was very poor generalship, but he knew his men well. Alexander was above all a superb psychologist and he knew that his example would motivate the army to fight, if for to other reason, than to protect their headstrong king.
  • This is the part I liked the most.
