  • Brutus's Speech - Ethos
  • Judge me with appropriate wisdom, and awake your senses so that you can judge me more accurately.
  • Brutus's Speech - Pathos
  • It is not that i loved Caesar less, but that i loved Rome more.
  • Brutus's Speech - Logos
  • Caesar was a valiant, so i honored him; but Caesar was also ambitious, so i killed him.
  • Brutus's use of ethos sets up his speech to hint his trustworthiness. He opens up his speech with a message to tell the people to judge him fairly, indicating that they are more open to trust him that way.
  • Antony's Speech - Ethos
  • If I wanted to stir your hearts and minds into rebellion and rage, then i would wrong Brutus and Cassius, who-you all know-are honorable men. I won't wrong them. I would rather wrong the dead, wrong myself and you,
  • Brutus's use of pathos is used to manipulate the people's emotion. By saying he doesn't put a single persons power over the people of Rome, showing his dedication to his people. In showing his motivations for the future of Rome. Not as a selfish act.
  • Antony's Speech - Pathos
  • Just yesterday Caesar's word was the most important in the world. Now he lies dead here, and there is no one humble enough to mount him.
  • Brutus implies logos to his speech when he states why Caesar was ambitious. He takes this fact and preaches it to the people  as a justification that Caesar was killed. Brutus continues to use this as the backbone of his reasoning and as to why Caesar would have become a danger to Rome.
  • Antony's Speech - Logos
  • But Brutus says he was ambitious, and brutus is an honorable man. He brought many captives home to Rome whose ransoms enriched us all. Did this seem like ambition in Caesar? when poor would cry, Caesar would weep.
  • Antony puts ethos into his speech to imply a sense of trustworthiness. He does this by giving a wrong action that he could easily go through with. But then he goes on to show how he thinks that it is the wrong answer. Opening up to the citizens his perception of the idea in a way that makes him seem trustworthy/humble.
  • He uses pathos to his advantage by making the people feel guilty for not being good enough to mourn Caesar. The townsfolk then want to put the blame on someone else so that they can rid of the weight on their shoulders. This is where Anotony's plan works because the people decide to put the blame on Brutus and the other conspirators.
  • Antony uses past actions of Brutus against him. He brings up facts where he was showing signs of being ambitious. this is significant because he is painting Brutus as a hypocrite. His reasoning for killing Caesar was due to the fact that he was ambitious and that it would lead to danger. So, Antony points out to the people that it is Brutus who is truly ambitious and that Caesar was not.
