  • WELCOME TO ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY HONORS
  • The 4 valves include: tricuspid (right AV valve), bicuspid (left AV valve), pulmonary semi-lunar and aortic semi-lunar.
  • The 4 chambers include: the left and right ventricles, and the left and right atrium.
  • Once blood leaves the heart it goes to the arteries. The job of the arteries is to move blood away from the heart. After the arteries the blood goes to the artioles, which are arteries that are just smaller in diameter. Then the capillary beds where gases and waste are exchanged.

  • Next, blood flows from the capillary beds to the venules. The venules are made when capillaries come together and then when the venules join together they create veins. The veins are large in diameter and are used to cycle blood back to the heart.
