I'm not sure. But, his wife was NOT happy about it. She pleaded with him to pray to the Christian God, and he did. Pretty soon... he was winning battles!
I know right! I wonder if Clovis and Charlemagne could just sit and enjoy days like this!
Ok so now I know who this Clovis guy was. But who the heck was Champagne???

CHARLEMAGNE was one of the greatest rulers of the Frankish Kingdom.
After the Fall of Rome, everything was chaotic. Instead of one unified empire, there were a ton of Kingdoms!

Charlemagne was a great leader, and he managed to DOUBLE the size of his kingdom! The Pope crowned him emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, but he believed that his power was God-Given...
It was! There were wars often. Now, one of the kings was named Clovis. He lost pretty much every single battle.
