  • The narrator take cares of the old man for eight nights, "Every night about twelve o’clock I slowly opened his door. And when the door was opened wide enough I put my hand in, and then my head. In my hand I held a light covered over with a cloth so that no light showed. And I stood there quietly. Then, carefully, I lifted the cloth, just a little, so that a single, thin, small light fell across that eye. For seven nights I did this, seven long nights, every night at midnight." but on the eight night was different as the narrator went to go check on the old man for the eight night. He open the door slowly shined the light on the old man looking for the eye. The old man woke up and cried out "whose there?!?"

  • The narrator charged at the old man hinting him in the head than suffocating him with the pillow. Wait for the heart to stop than he chopped up the old man and slip the body parts under the wooden boards.

  • The police show up to the masters house, the narrator lets them in and offers them a seat. The officers ask the narrator where the master of the house is? The narrator lied and said the master is out of town. The officers believe him, sat down, started laughing, the narrator knew he got a away with the murder.
