- Substage 1: Reflexes (0-1 Month)
- Welcome home baby girl!
- Here, we see how baby Katie understands her environment through Inborn reflexes. Here, she demonstrates the sucking reflex by sucking on her pacifier.

- Substage 2: Primary Circular Reactions (1-4 months)
- Ahhhh
- Baby Katie is 3 months old now. She is demonstrating how she's coordinating sensations and new schemas by sucking her thumb. She's exploring her hands which shows us how her body is her main focus during this time.

- Substage 3: Secondary Circular Reactions (4-8 months)
- Katie is 7 months old today. She is demonstrating secondary circular reactions by showing how she's more object-oriented. She finds putting a toy in her mouth interesting and repeats this action.

- Substage 4: Coordination of Secondary Circular Reactions (8-12 months)
- Fast forward 4 months... Katie is now 11 months old. Here, she is showing us how her actions are clear and intentional. She is combining schemas to achieve a desired effect by realizing that a rattle makes noise when it's shaken.

- Substage 5: Tertiary Circular Reactions (12-18 months)
- THUD!!!
- Katie, now 1 year old, experiments with trial and error to get attention. She throws her bottle to see Mom's reaction and may repeat it to see if she will get the same reaction. Katie is also learning about the sound the bottle makes as she observes it fall and hit the ground.
