- Germany invades France and wants to take over all of Europe. To prepare for the invasion of Normandy the Allies gathered troops and equipment in Britain. They had over 1,000 bombers hitting German targets.

- Germany knew an invasion was coming soon because of the additional airstrikes in the area. The Allies confused the Germans by pretending to attack north of Normandy at Pas-de-Calais.
- next stage
- After a lot of planning the invasion was almost cancelled because of bad weather. The Allies needed a full moon to see at night. The Allies attacked during high tide to avoid obstacles from the Germans.
- results
- The first wave started with paratroopers men who jumped from planes using parachutes at night. They landed at night to destroy key targets and bridges. Thousands of dummy soldiers were dropped also.
- The Next Stage of the battle was thousands of planes dropped bombs, warships bombed the beaches. At the same time, the French Resistance help sabotaged the Germans. The Americans landed at Omaha and Utah beaches for fierce fighting.
