- Gatsby goes over to the Buchanan's for lunch with Nick. After a very uncomfortable lunch together, they spontaneously decide to pass the time by going into town.
- I don't like the idea of going to town.
- Lets go to town!
- She knew him before we were married- God knows where!
- Tom, Jordan, and Nick drive into town in Gatsby's car while Daisy and Gatsby drive together in Tom's yellow car.
- If you're such a snob, why did you invite him to lunch?
- Please let's all go home. Why don't we all go home?
- The group arrives in the city and gets a room at the Plaza Hotel. Tom and Gatsby argue about Daisy and who she should be with.
- She never loved you, do you hear?
- Daisy loved me when she married me and she loves me now
- Jordan? Nick? Want any whiskey?
- After Gatsby and Tom fight, Daisy freaks out and goes back to East Egg with Gatsby. Jordan, Nick and Tom stay behind for a minute.
- No... I just remembered today is my birthday
- 2. WATCH OUT!!!
- On the way back to East Egg, Daisy drives Tom's car through the City of Ashes. Myrtle runs into the street because she thinks Tom is coming. Daisy hits Myrtle Wilson and does not stop driving to check if she is okay.
- 1. Please let me drive, it might help me cool off
- Tom! stop for me!
- I'm just going to wait here and see if he tries to bother her about all the events from this afternoon
- As everyone arrives home, Gatsby hides outside the Buchanan's house to make sure Daisy is O.K. after the many chaotic events that have occurred this afternoon.
- He won't touch her. He's not thinking about her.
