  • Hello Florinda, well the day has finally come to vote. I do wish you luck, but I am sad to say that I know I will win.

  • When George Washington helped form the government of the United States, he was aware of the power the President would have over the country. He set certain precedents for the office of the President. This included qualifications for candidates for the office of the presidency.

  • Each state has a certain number of electors. Each elector gets one vote. There are a total of 538 electoral votes. When votes are counted in January, the candidate that secures more than half the votes, (270 or more), wins the election.
  • I have all of the qualifications for President! I am at least 35 years old, I am a natural born citizen of the United States, and I have been a resident of the United States for 14 years.

  • Candidates travel the country and try to convince people to vote for them. Sometimes, they participate in debates with other candidates. In this way, they are able to share their views and opinions on issues about the country.

  • The General Election is held after the Primary Election in November. People choose who they want to be president.

  • Many people don't know that the President of the United States is officially elected by the Electoral College. The Electoral College is made up of the "electors," who are voted in by the people in each state.

  • The inauguration is a ceremony that begins the new four year term of the President. The 20th amendment to The Constitution specifies that the term begins at noon on January 20th of the year following the election. The President takes the oath of office before assuming the position.
