- January 1997, Victor 9 years old was sleeping when a storm outside wakes him up from a nightmare he was having. He is in the basement of his family's house that is on a Indian Reservation while his dad hosts a party upstairs known as "Largest New Years Eve Party in Tribal History".
- CLIMAX
- The government limited indians from having more then one kid. They immediately sterilized indians so they could limit the Indian population.
- FALLING ACTION
- The brothers of Victors mom Adolph and Arnold began to argue and it escalated into a fistfight, resulting in wood braking. Victor was scared for the sudden silence upstairs. The two uncles fighting symbolizes how anger and pain takes away the pureness.
- RESOLUTION
- The hurricane the author uses goes through all the characters bad memories and hardships each person has been through The whiskey, vodka and all the alcohol is what the characters drown themselves in to numb the pain they have.
- Victor reflects back on the time when his cousins forced him to climb a tree and he struggled keeping his grip. Victor shows that he is trying to be strong and move on from the suffering he has been through and sometimes he wants to just let go and fall.
- Victor lays next to his drunken parents seeking to find peace and comfort.
