Mookie contemplates his future.
I love school but we're poor and I need to make some money. I'm good at sports. I wonder if I could make some money playing ball.
I sure hope he figures this out.
Uh oh!
The next day, after practicing, Mookie's prayers are answered. He gets recruited by a scout to join a baseball academy.
Yes, yes, I just wanna get money for playing ball.
Come join my baseball academy. I'll get you to the major leagues and all I want is your soul.
Perfect! I'll make you a star.
Why is she making me choose between baseball and her???
Youknow my dream is to make big money and this is my chance.
Mookie can't wait to tell his girlfriend, Gladys, the news.
That's crazy. If you drop out, I'll never date you again!
Yeah, one in a million. Good luck! You're gonna need it.
She is SO right.
At the academy, Mookie plays ball all day every day but, at night, he is sad.
I'm lonely. I miss my mom. I miss Gladys. I miss school.
I'm tired. My shoulders hurt, my legs hurt, but I have to keep working to get the money.
Mookie keeps on keeping on until he blows out his knees. MLB expels him from the academy and abandons him to his fate.
OMG! My knees are ruined. I'll never be able to run again. I'll never walk right again. I'll be poor forever.
Mookie ends up back in school, a year behind his old friends.
I hate school.
I'm glad you're back, Mookie, but I don't date 10th graders or cripples or boys who sold their souls.
why is she so mean to him?
mmmm
