- They were given spear which they plunged in the ocean. As they pulled the sear from the ocean, drops fell from the tip forming the first japanese island.

- They gave birth to all the islands that now form japan. They also gave birth to a range of different gods to inhabit each of these islands
- While giving birth to to god of fire, Izanami died. Izanagi followed her to the land of the dead, to bring her back, but she refused.
- Izanagi washed himself clean, and the water drops thet fell from his body became other gods.
