שימוש נפוץ ב- Storyboard That לסייע לתלמידים ליצור דיאגרמת עלילה של האירועים מתוך סיפור. לא זו בלבד שזו דרך נהדרת ללמד את חלקי העלילה, אלא שהיא מחזקת אירועים מרכזיים ומסייעת לתלמידים לפתח הבנה רבה יותר של מבנים ספרותיים. בפעילות זו התלמידים ייצרו תרשים עלילה לסיפור שרשראות מאת לורי הלס אנדרסון.
תלמידים יכולים ליצור לוח סיפור המצלם את קשת הסיפור בעבודה עם לוח סיפור בן שישה תאים המכיל את החלקים העיקריים בתרשים העלילה. עבור כל תא, בקשו מהתלמידים ליצור סצנה העוקבת אחר הסיפור ברצף תוך שימוש ב: Exposition, Conflict, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action ו- Resolution.
