In 1789, French representatives, known as the Nation Assembly, wrote the Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen. They created this document in order to express what they believed to be the correct way to rule society. It was designed to secure the rights of French Citizens and was greatly influenced by the ideals of the Declaration of Independence.
The Russian Revolution changed Russia completely. The victorious Bolsheviks eventually became the Communist Party and Vladmir Lenin became the ruler of Russia. The country became communist under Lenin’s rule. Lenin also gave the peasants farmland, workers control of factories, and signed the Treaty of Brest Litovsk. The reforms and actions taken by Lenin and the communist party turned Russia into what is it today.

In 1917, Russian workers began a strike, kicking off the Revolution. Russian citizens were unhappy with the state of the country’s economics and politics and the treatment of the working class. Many areas in Russia were extremely poverty-stricken and many went without homes or food. The Russian revolution was more of a civil war. It was fought between the Mensheviks, promoting peace, and the Bolsheviks, promoting violence. The Bolsheviks were led by Vladmir Lenin. The revolution ended in 1922 with the Bolsheviks as victors.
