- When we think in the most terrorific month of the year we think of October because we celebrate Halloween, but, do you know the complete history of this tradition?
- In the medley XIX century, Irish immigrants arrived to America, bringing with them the tradition of Halloween, which caught the attention of a lot of Americans because their very attractive parties began to be created, which contained food, costumes and a very cool decoration (like a party but with scary decoration).
- When the Irish and the American traditions started to mix, the American Halloween started to emerge. People started to tell scary stories, dance and sing.
- It was a scary night....
- Americans also started to dress up, and go to houses asking for food or money. At first, by 1920’s and 1930’s, trick-or-treaters committed vandalism acts if they didn’t received what they were asking for, but this has changed, eventually becoming the modern “trick or treat” tradition.
- Young womens used to make practices to guess their future husband, like bobbing apples or watching a mirror. This tradition has disappeared along the time.
- With the time, Halloween had become the festivity that we know. Today, when we think of Halloween, terrifying costumes, parties, candy, pumpkins or horror movies immediately come to our mind. But now you know the complete history.
