During her service as a judge, she prohibited the assignment of probation officers based on ethnicity, and she required private child-care providers that received public monies to assist children of all backgrounds.
Jane Bolin was sworn in as the first Black female judge in the United States as a judge of the New York City Domestic Relations Court.

Bolin committed her career to fighting for children's rights, pursuing cases involving juvenile delinquency, child abuse and segregation, needy spouses and children, adoptions, and child welfare. Jane Bolin influenced positive steps towards criminal justice by setting up legal precedents.

There needs to be adaptations that fix our polices to create more rights for children and families!
Jane Bolin's legacy will be forever honored, but there still needs to be change implemented. There can be more rights given to women and there should be more reforms in society regarding African American equality.
I am grateful to have spent four decades on the bench of New York's Family Court defending justice and equality for mothers and children.
