- The Franks and the Van Daans go into hiding at the Secret Annex. To survive, they have to be quiet during the normal work hours. Miep and Mr. Kraler supply them with food.

- They must bring the families food and information regarding their current situation. Meip and Mr. Kraler have been giving the families beans until they can find a better food source to smuggle in.

- An eighth member joins, Mr. Dussel. He and Anne have to share a room and don't get along. Mr. Dussel seems to hate everything about Anne.

- Mr. Frank tricked people on the outside by allowing them to think he and his family fled to Switzerland.

- Several months later, Anne is yelling because she is having a bad dream. Mr. Dussel is annoyed by her because they could have been caught.

- Anne Refuses to allow her mom to comfort her and asks for her father instead. This upsets her mother.

- Anne tells her father about the dream. She is now embarrassed by her behavior and explains she has a nicesidebut she is does not want anyone to make fun of her.

- The Franks, the Van Daans and Mr. Dussel are celebrating Hanukkah. They are having a good time, and Anne starts to give everyone a gift that was thoughtful.

- There was a fight over the cat, Mr. Van Daan orders Peter to get rid of the cat. The situation calms down when Anne begins to sing.
- Suddenly, there is a loud crash from downstairs and everyone starts to panic. They wonder if it is the green police.

- Oh what a celebration!
- Peter drops the lamp shade and there is loud noise, the person then escapes.
- Mr. Frank goes down stairs and it was just a thief and the thief is gone now.
- They are thankful and continue celebrating. They sing songs to praise God.
