Beowulf travels to the Seamonster's cave by swimming to the bottom of the lake and fighting other small monsters on the way.
The Road Back
Although Beowulf's main weapon did no damage to Grendel, his mail chest plate saved his life and allowed him to find the giant sword, which he later used to kill the seamonster.
Threshold Crossing - Resurrection
He then took the head of Grendel and his sword's handle to give back to the Danes, leaving lots of treasure in the process.
Return with Elixir - Freedom to Live
Beowulf travels back to the surface of the lake to meet the Geats who waited for him. They then went back to Herot to present Grendel's head to Hrothgar and honor the Danes.
Many years later when Beowulf was an old king of the Geats, a dragon threatened their kingdom. Although Beowulf was an old man, he decided to fight for his kingdom and take on the dragon. With the help of Wiglaf, Beowulf defeated the dragon. Unfortunately, he died from injuries from the battle.
Wiglaf returns to the Geats with Beowulf's body and the treasure in the dragon's lair. He then built a tower for Beowulf as a memory of the sacrifice he had for the Geats and buried the treasure with him.
