Today I'm going to teach you about natural selection and the theory of evolution!
It all started with a guy name Charles Darwin. An English scientist who developed the idea of Natural selection after proposing the theory of evolution
But...
How did he discover this?
In 1831 he joined the HMS Beagle where he sailed on a five year route. While traveling he collected fossils and studied them
He discovered that the fossils are the same species we have today but they looked different meaning that they adapted to the environment they were living in
Later on when Charles Darwin was trying to find a reason for why species change overtime a economist Thomas Malthus gave him an idea that the human population grows faster than Earth's food supply. That's when he realize that some individuals struggle to survive because of food, and no protecting from predators. But he also realized that there are individuals that don't have a hard time surviving. He did an experiment that included pigeons. He saw how traits vary in population. Darwin breed pigeons with the desirable variations so they can produce offspring's.He then publishes a book about Natural selection called " On the Origin of Species by Natural Selection" in 1859
