- Homeland
- Thank you all for coming to see me and hear about what I have learned about the city Timbuktu! I learned that our homelands are very differnt we have different aspects and views on religons and objects we find valuable they might not so much. Like Constantinople, Timbuktu is the capital of the Mali empire and is rich in trades and is a hotspot for Islam.
- Trade
- Hello! I welcome you to my home. This is the stuff I brought back whilst trading with the new civilization. Timbuktu was filthy rich in gold they treated it like wasn't worth much and they would even trade me 1 pound of salt for 1 pound of gold can you believe that? They would also trade ivory which is going to be useful for a decoration. I also traded for lots of slaves to help with labor around the house and do work when I dont feel like it.
- Art, Sciences, and Culture
- A thing that intrigued me the most while I was on my trip to Timbuktu was the amount of people who had practiced Islam. Their arts and arcehtricutre have the same meaning behind ours in Constantinople its to show their alligence to their own religon. Ours being Chrisitanity and their being Islam. They also discovered new things iron weapons and calenders I brought one of these back and they're very great and useful for combat and ordinary use.
- Religon
- Religon was very different in Timbuktu. They were mostly Islamic and followed the basic islamic princples of praying, charity, and fasting. On the other hand in Constantinople people are mostly Christian we believe in the holy trinity, there is one single God, and our goal is just to put faith in him. As you may know we're part of the Byzantine empire which means we desecned from the Romans and they left Chrsitianity for us. On the other hand Askia Muhammad brought Islamic beliefs to Timubktu instead of it being something that was passed down.
- History
- There is lots of history in Constantinople and Timbuktu. In Constantinople we had a invasion from Ottomans which led to the walls that once protected us from Muslim fell and their new inventions like cannons which led to a catostrophic fall the the Mali empire. In Timbuktu on the other hand Ibn Battuta the great Muslim traveler visted them and had spread culutral diffusion furthor more and had brought his own culture and ideas to Timbuktu and the Mali Empire.
- Journey
- My journey took about 45 days in total. Most of they days I was on ships like this crossing the Aegan and Meditterarean sea. When I had made landfall we had to walk through the Sahara desert with animals like camels who were able to withstand the tempature and journey. We met mutiple new cilivzations like Songhai as well and we traded and talked with them.
