- Chapter Ten. Uncle Moshe trades his food rations for a day for Yanek to get a job out of the camp. When he gets there he goes and cleans the old ghetto. He finds the dead body of his neighbor. He checks the clothes of his father and finds 2000 Zloty. He gives it to Uncle Moshe to hide and he buys food for the day.
- Chapter 13. Yanek gets taken to the Wieliczka Salt Mine. He sees statues and chandeliers. The kapo says that if you get lost they won't try and find you. Wone of the Judenrat from Krazow and he gets beaten to death. And he works mining salt. After a couple of months, he gets released.
