Hi Everyone! My name is Kristy. I'm from Ottawa and moved to Waterloo last year. I was a French teacher with the Ottawa public board for a number of years. I'm now transitioning careers and am very happy to be in the M.Ed program.

Something I have learned in the past six months working in insurance is how essential feedback and observation are to learning — not just in classrooms, but in the workplace. It was eye-opening to see how the quality of instructional content directly impacted job performance. When training materials were clear, dynamic, and accessible, people could do their jobs confidently. When they weren’t, confusion and inefficiencies followed. It made me realize that education doesn’t stop at school — effective learning design matters just as much in business settings.

Something I would like to learn is how to effectively read scholarly articles and journals to get to the essential material more effectively. I haven't had to read research materials since university which was many moons ago. I would love to become more comfortable finding the information I need and understand the structure well.
