- Hello, Marielle! I’m Katherine Johnson. I’m a mathematician at NASA and I’m part of the Space Task Group (STG), the team responsible for the calculations of the first space missions of the United States.

- Oi, Katherine! Eu sou Marielle Franco. Fui vereadora do Rio de Janeiro, feminista, pertencente à comunidade LGBTQIAPN+ e militante pelos direitos humanos. Meus ideais e as bandeiras que defendi incomodaram muita gente e, por isso, fui vítima de assassinato no dia 14 de março de 2018. Após a minha morte, tornei-me um símbolo de resistência para os movimentos aos quais pertenci em vida.

- Not to mention my relationship with Paul, which was also complicated. He didn’t trust my work in the beginning and thought that a woman, especially a Black woman, shouldn’t be there. I had to prove my ability every single day, not only to him, but to several other engineers on the team who thought the same way, even though I was doing the same work as all of them.
- Katherine, já ouvi sobre o seu trabalho na NASA e os admiro muito, pois são muito impressionantes. Mas eu imagino que estar nesse espaço, sendo mulher e negra, não deve ter sido fácil. Como foi enfrentar o preconceito dentro de um ambiente tão elitizado e dominado por homens brancos?
- It’s amazing to be part of something so big… but it was also very hard, since I am the first and only Black woman working on the STG team. Besides the heavy workload, I face prejudice for being a woman and for being Black. Many people doubt me before even looking at my calculations.
