First, Cesar Chavez was born on March 31, near Yuma, Arizona. He was named after his grandfather, whom moved to Arizona from Mexico in 1880. He is the second-oldest child in the family. His family owned and ran a small store.
Soon, when Cesar was young, his family had enough money to live comfortably. Sadly, his father was cheated by a landowner which made a big impact on Cesar's family. At the same time, the Great Depression had taken over the U.S.
After that, Cesar's family didn't have enough money to pay the taxes for the land they owned
Later, When Cesar was 10 years old, his family moved to California to pick crops from the farms. Migrant families frequently move from place to place following the season when the crops are harvested. His family first lived and settled in La Colonia,Barrio, California in 1940
Next, the work in the fields of California wasn't easy for Cesar's family. The workers were treated unfairly, they weren't paid that much, they were forced to work for long periods and they were offered little food and water
Then, when Cesar was 20 years old, he decided to stand up for his family and the other migrant workers whom were getting treated unfairly. He wanted to influence the government to give migrant workers a more fair payment and care. He did it in a Nonviolence way.
Finally, after successful attempts of protests to influence the government. There was a big change, a huge crowd of migrant workers celebrated till night. After Cesar's greatest acheivement, migrant workers were beginning to get paid and cared for more fairly. That was the greatest thing that happened in Cesar's life.
