- The Heliocentric Model placed the earth in the centre of the universe until Copernicus discovered that the earth orbits the sun. Newton then discovered that the heavens don't influence the mundane and the universe is infinite, so we are not the centre of it
- The Descent of man - everything came out fo the same primordial puddle and everything is therefore linked by its origins.
- Darwin went on trip to the Galapagos islands believing in the fixity of species and returned believing in transmutation or evolution.
