  • London 15 June 1381The peasants weren't happy about the Poll Tax, nor the Villeins, as they used to work with no money!So, with this hard state after the Black Death, peasants decided to revolt and in 1381, they were already in London!
  • Villeins you were, Villeins you remain
  • Wat Tyler died, and to avoid violation, the young King asked the protesters to go home and he will do what they want. The Peasants go home, thinking they’ve won.
  • Finally I am a free man! I can do whatever I want!
  • Something did change, The Poll Tax was stopped. Land owners didn't want to make the wages higher but when the less farmers was on the land and the land was too much, the land owners did pay more for the farmers.
  • Crops won't grow, it's too cold...
  • But for a time villeins stayed villeins...The King went back on his word and said;“Villeins you were, Villeins you remain.”
  • By 1500 all peasant were free Magna carta applied to everyone in England.
  • Life could still be hard. The average temperatures were falling, so farming was difficult.
