A few years ago at Rocky Mountain Middle School I walked in to begin my day.
But today was not like any day. Today every 8th grader including me took a vow of silence to simulate how monks live, so we could not say a word.
Now as it were this wasn't that dificult for me because I didn't talk that much in class anyway. It was going good until History. Now you must know that my history teacher has a sense of humor, and I think he came up with the whole thing and he went all out.
What he did was turn out all the lights, closed the blinds, and our only source of light were little plastic candles. My candle was not very bright, and I was having trouble doing my assignment. On the teacher's desk was a much brighter one, but I couldn't talk.
So what I did was quietly walk up to his desk and grab the brighter candle and put my candle in its place, and the entire time I did this I was staring him directly in the eyes. It was extremly awkard.
And with this new much brighter candle, I was able to get the assignment done and completed the vow without ever saying a word. This is one of the most memorable stories I have from middle school, seconded only by the time I was bombarded by kids from the second floor of the building with pencils. But alas that is a story for another time . . .
