- in the chapter ambush kathleen his daughter asks him if he ever killed someone because she knew he was a solider. asking a solider this question can be very hard for them for taking someones life it triggers there ptsd and a very horrible images that they saw

- in the chapter ambush he hates himself for killing a man but at the same time he doesn't because the man who he killed could've killed him this is very sad for the soldiers this is where ptsd can start but this is all apart of there jobs to do

- dentist the chapter where curt lemon was scared of the dentist to show that soldiers have there fears and there normal people as well

- in the chapter how to tell a true war story they went on this mission to see if they hear anything but they cant talk at all then they hear things and call it in for them to blow up the muntins its sad they had no human interaction for the missions they had to do and they went crazy at times
- in the chapter enemies lee strunk and dave jensen got into a fight for a missing knife this shows how crazy you get when your at war and have to be alert at all times
- in the chapter friends strunk got blown up and him and jensen made a promise if they were going to die that they would have to kill them, when he found out strunk passed away he had a relief that his friend wasn't in pain and that he didn't have to kill him
