- Nepal is a landlocked country situated between India and China. Because of it's placing, the Himalayas run directly through it. Its geography contains mainly mountainous, forested areas. Despite its small size (only slightly larger than Florida), if it was laid flat, the land area would roughly equal that of the United States!

- Roughly 80% of the population practices Hinduism, the country's main religion. By comparison, a small number of people practice Buddhism, only about 9%. Several other religions, including Islam and Christianity, are practiced in minute amounts as well.

- Nepal boasts the worlds highest peak, Mount Everest. It was conquered in 1953 by explorers Tenzin Norge Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hilary, helping to internationalize Nepal's mountaineering market, boosting the tourism industry.

- Nepal is a parliamentary republic with a multi-party system, adopted in 2008 after the abolishment of a 240-year-old monarchy. Their constitution is relatively new, only being adopted in 2015 after a magnitude 7 earthquake prompted the quick response of the government to post disaster efforts.

- Since the country is landlocked, Nepal has trouble exporting goods to other countries, so much of their trade activity is with India. A majority of their GDP includes agricultural products like rice and grain. Mining, forestry and tourism are also small, yet expanding industries.

- Nepal's social structure uses Casteism, which consists of layers, or castes. Their social structure is oppressive towards lower class people and gives people of higher status and education power. Individuals that are of a lower-caste are often treaded as not significant when dealing with social, economic, cultural and political aspects.
