Hi! My name is Polly. I live in New Orleans and work at Brenan's.
One day, I came home, and saw my house was about to get destroyed! I had to get out of there!
I had to get out of there! I noticed there was no traffic on the street. Most of the city had already been evacuated! I had to find someplace fast.
The city knew about the incoming storm many days before.
Then, I saw the Superdome. I had seen many football games there.  I saw many people heading inside. I would enter to find 30,000 people crammed inside.
The hurricane never actually hit New Orleans. The rain caused all of the levees to break and flood the city. People had to move because they would die if they stayed while the city flooded.
It was very crammed inside. We ended up being stuck in there for a week.
New Orleans ordered an evacuation and about 1.2 million people evacuated.  Many thousands of residents didn't want to leave or merely couldn't.
The city had been completely destroyed. They decided to relocate me to LA so I could find a job and have a place to live.
Many people desperate for safety flooded to the arena. It was opened as a last result for the unprepared New Orleans.
It was very crammed inside. People lived in there for a week and were getting frustrated. It was also unsanitary because there were so many people.
