- I'm crazy. I didn't even like her much, and yet all of a sudden I felt like I was in love with her (17.2)
- While taking a cab to the theatre Holden tells Sally how much he loves her and she returns the favour, but at the same time tells him to grow out his hair.
- Oh, darling, I love you too, , Promise me you'll let your hair grow. Crew cuts are getting corny. And your hair's so lovely. (163)
- I love you, you look amazing you know that right?
- Holden and Sally go see a play called The Lunts, however Holden doesn't like the play because the actors are too good, like Ernies, they just show off for the audience
- Honey! Oh how i've missed you
- They didn't act like people and they didn't act like actors. (199)

- Act the end of the first act Holden and Sally go out to smoke with all the phonies. However Sally meets George and starts speaking to him which makes Holden upset
- NEW YORK THEATRE
- this is the phoniest conversation i've ever heard in my life. (17.4)
- After the play Holden is still upset that George horned his date with Sally. Sally however doesn't realize that and suggests they go to Radio City to stake. Holden thinks sally only want to go because of the outfit provided at the rink but agrees anyways
- Why? Let's go ice-skating at Radio City! (130)
- Sure. If you want to. (130)
- She wants to see herself in one of those little skirts that just come down over their butt and all. (130)
- Though they were having fun they were the worst skaters in the whole rink. In result Holden asks Sally if she'd like to get some soft drinks with him and she agrees.
- That's the most marvelous idea you've had all day (132)
- Do you want to get a table inside and have a drink or something? (132)
