The Mexican government has decided to give away land but you have to live by our rulesTheir are 4 rules that you have to follow.1.) You have to obey Mexican laws.2.) Slavery is banned.3.)You have to convert to Catholicism.4.) You have to learn Spanish.

Because Texans wanted independence and they started to rebel and so Santa Anna gathered a force of 1000s and to stop the rebellion and they fought with the army at Alamo and won.
We don't want to follow your rules anymore, we want independence!

Then they chased untrained soldiers that reorganized at San Jacinto River and the Texans took a stand Santa Anna believed he would win and was careless in choosing where his forces camped. Houston and his men swarmed the Mexican camp and won.

The Texas Revolution ended with Santa Anna getting captured and getting forced to sign a treaty giving Texas its independence.
We do not want to make Texas a state because we fear it will upset the balance between free and slave states. We also don't want war with Mexico.
