The four concepts of responsible and respectful digital use are all equally important and today we will be discussing them.
You may have not heard about them before, but everything will be explained.
the first point I'd like to talk about is copyright. If material is copyrighted, it means the owner does not give permission to others to share their work without getting paid. Copyright is protected by law, so you could get into legal trouble if you don't respect it.
however, there is a law called the fair use policy. This allows you to use a small portion of copyrighted material as long as you are not passing it off as your own, for example, if a YouTuber used a clip of a song as their theme music.

The next point is plagiarism. Plagiarism is when someone steals your work and calls it their own.
Would that not get them into legal trouble?
You can take legal action against someone for plagiarism, as long as your material is your own copyrighted material or you have evidence they stole it.

and finally, intellectual property ownership is the ownership of ideas. For example, when someone invents a new product, the inventor can apply it for a patent so no one can steal their idea
Mark Zuckerberg stole the idea for Facebook from someone else.
thank you for listening to us today and letting us tell you about responsible and respectful digital use.
