- Meg and Jo are getting ready to go see a play with Laurie, when Amy sees them and get curious.
- "Never mind. Little girls shouldn't ask questions."
- After Amy hears this news, she instantly gets jealous and begs to go. She gets told "no" numerous times.
- "Girls where are you going?"
- "we are going to see a play along with Laurie."
- Once Meg and Jo leave, Amy is furious. Without thinking Amy decides to get payback on Jo by burning her monologue in the fireplace.
- This is what she gets for not letting me go anywhere!!
- (A day later) Amy, Beth, and Meg are all sitting in the living room when Jo walks in upset asking where her book is. Amy tells her what she did.
- " I burned it up."
- "What! My little book I was so found of, and worked over, and meant to finish before Father got home? Have you really burned it?"
- After a few hours, Mrs. March gives Jo a goodnight kiss along with some advice.
- " My dear, don't let the sun go down upon your anger; forgive each other, help each other and begin again tomorrow."
- The next day, Jo calls Laurie and they decide to go ice staking. Amy overhears and forces herself to go with them, Jo is upset with this. After ice staking for a few minutes Laurie warns Jo that there is a soft spot on the ice, Jo listens but doesn't warn Amy which causes Amy to fall through the ice. Jo is frozen in fear.
- " Bring a rail. Quick, quick!"
- " Quite safe, dear. She is not hurt, and won't even take cold, I think, you were so sensible in covering and getting her home safely."
- After the accident Amy and Jo immediately went home, Amy fell asleep in the bedroom and Jo broke down from guilt in front of her mom.
- " Are you sure she is safe?"
- After Mrs. March comforted Jo, Amy and jo forgive each other after some time.
