Sorry, I can't play for you.  I'm too skinny and would get hurt very easily.
I want you on my football team!  Your dad was the best football player we've ever had here and you should live up to his legacy!  I'll even give you his number!
I tried basketball, tennis, baseball, hockey, and much more.  I was bad at all of them though.
In this scene. one of Jack's old friends convinced him to play a friendly game of football and when Jack went to tackle somebody he ran right around him and Jack fell over because he is unathletic.  Being unathletic is a social issue in this book because Jack's school is known as one of the most sports-driven schools and almost everybody is athletic, or plays a sport.  But, Jack does not.
In this scene, Principal Muhldinger wanted Jack on his football team because he is the son of Tom Logan, the best football player the school has ever had, and the principal wanted Jack to live up to his dad's legacy by wearing his dad's number and playing football.  Jack turns down this offer, though, because he knew he would get tackled and hurt very easily because he is unathletic
For this one, it is not really a scene in the book but a narration.  Around the beginning of the book, Jack narrates that he has tried about every sport there is to try, but was terrible at all of them.  This includes basketball, tennis, baseball, hockey, and golf.
