Coroline discovered the door a little while after they moved into the house. The planks of wood were rotting and the hinges were colossal like the ones you find on church doors. The key to the door was cold and black.
It was an ancient house(now converted into flats) and it had an overgrown garden with immense old trees. The house looked haunted from the outside. It was massive.
The second day after Coraline and her family moved into one of the flats, she went exploring. The grounds were vast and you could only see the majestic house far, far away in the distance.
this is so much fun!
She also came upon some animals . She discovered a hedgehog, a snake skin, a toad and a haughty - looking black black cat who always ran away whenever Coroline tried to play with it.
A few days later, coroline asked her mum where the door lead to (it was in her flat) but her mother said nowhere as it was bricked up. When the building was a house it would have lead to another grand room.
That night coroline lay awake as she was about to fall asleep, she heard a t-t-t-t she sat up and something (like a ghost) banged against the wall . She was sure the thing was alive. Coroline got out of bed and ran into the drawing room where she saw the door slightly open. Did it go in there?
