- During the process of inserting a IUD, a doctor must first perform a biannual pelvic. This procedure is done the doctors can determine the position, consistency, size, and mobility of the uterus and identify any terns.
- So the procedure of the IUD isn't as painful, doctors will stabilize the cervix by opening the vagina using a speculum, then that will fo into the vagina, and the sides of the vagina is separated and held open by the special device.
- Once the stabilization of the cervix is done, the doctor will prepare the IUD for insertion. The IUD is pushed inside to the depth of the cervix, once the IUD is in the position of the uterus the arms of the IUD will open into a T like shape.During the insertion more women tend to experience discomfort, cramping, pinching sensation. However these reactions do not affect later IUD performance
- Once the IUD is in place, the tube and plunger are removed and the IUD will stay in place. The IUD will have strings attached to it that the doctor so once the insertion is complete the doctor will cut down the strings, and the other tool will be removed as well.After the insertion is done the doctor will tell you the procedure is complete and provide you with information about the IUD and how to check for you IUD.
- For the first few days many women experience mild cramping and breeding. This experience is normal, however if the pain tends to be unbearable its a better option to call a doctor for any infections.
- During intercourse, it is better to do it after the IUD has been inserted within 48 hours. And during that time the IUD will be used as a protection against the sperm so it won't enter the uterus.
