The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street Theme: Man kind is it own worst enemy.
One major theme of the story "The Monster Are Due On Maple Street '' by Rod Serling is that mankind is its own worst enemy. For example, first when Les Goodmans car started up and people had started accusing him when his car had started randomly. The people where accusing him because everything in the street was off and also it had started when he was out of the car so it made them even more suspicious and people thought that he could have been the alien.Next is when all of the power turns back on and the house lights start to flash and peoples car start to work again after nothing world turn on and they couldn't leave. Also when the power was on now everyone started to freak out because it turned on so randomly and just because nothing would turn on and everything was on now. Lastly Even the aliens are saying, “Just stop a few of their machines and radios and telephones and lawnmowers… throw them into darkness for a few hours and then you just sit back and watch the pattern… they pick the most dangerous enemy they can find… and it's themselves.” In all this helps prove the theme of mankind is its own worst enemy because of the way they will turn on each-other with just a little bit of conflict such as what had happened in the story.
