In line 9, The writer sets for a turn, in my opinion, when he use the term “almost despising”. As in not quite to the depression area of his thoughts. That, then setsup the next line to turn the poem starting with “HaplyI think on thee”. His desire, his love. This certainly sets to tone of the entire sonnet at most people in love are, conflicted at times. “For thy sweet love remember’d such wealth brings.” is the final direct mention of being in love, how wealthy that makes a person, a couple in such a relationship.
“For thy sweet love remember’d such wealth brings” is the thought that floods back to the writer. He remembers his love. He remembers the feelings he has with his love, having a love. He is transported to the past with his love and it overtakes all the sad empty feelings he had. This brings the poem to a happy ending and making it a love poem.
“That then I scorn to change my state with kings.” He love is so overwhelming that it changes his relationships with important people, “Kings.” The overall poem seems to start with sad, harsh feelings with his love interest. Perhaps they have been apart for a long period, maybe they had cross words. The turn of the sonnet brings bck the writer to his true love and his feelings about her. Even if there are bad times in the relationship, he is brought back to his real feelings for his love.
