- The Wind
- This important piece of this adventure starts the journey. This is where the thirteen dwarfs talk Bilbo Baggins into going with them to the Lonely Mountain.
- Battle at Laketown
- Near the beginning of the journey, Bilbo and the dwarfs are captured by trolls. They were going to get cooked and eaten, but Gandalf stalls them until dawn. In The Hobbit, trolls turn to stone in daylight, so the company moves on from there.
- The Battle of the Five Armies
- After Bilbo's eyes adjust to the darkness in the pit, Bilbo finds a gold ring on the cold floor and pockets it, not caring what it was. He then finds a slimy, disgusting creature named Gollum. Gollum makes a promise to show Bilbo the way out if he can answer the riddles that they share back and forth.
- The Road Home
- This battle is a terrifying battle where Smaug the Dreadful attacks the town Laketown after realizing that the dwarfs got to the mountain using the people of Laketown to help. But thanks to Bard the Bowman, Smaug is defeated and the town saved.
- This is the finishing battle at the end of The Hobbit. This battle is where dwarfs, Men, and Elves team up against goblins and wolves. It ends with the victory of the dwarfs, Men, and Elves. This battle concludes the feud between who gets the gold in the Lonely Mountain and brings everything back to what would seem normal.
- After the Battle of the Five Armies, Bilbo gets his gold (that he was promised at the beginning of the book in a contract written by Thorin). Bilbo then is accompanied by Gandalf and heads back to the Shire.
