- First step to driving is getting your L, you'll need to take the knowledge test. It's an 50 multi choose question quiz that will need 40 of the questions right to pass. To help you succeed in the test you'll want to study the learn to drive smart book which you can get at an ICBC office. Though before you go in to take the test I suggest that you take a practice knowledge test and the street sense hazard training program.
- Road rules for N drivers.
- You got your L! Congratulations, now you can finally get on the road. But since you on the road there are rules you have to follow. The rules of the road for a learner are, only one passenger, passenger has to be 25 plus with a full license, must have L display on back of car, no phones whatsoever or any substance in you blood, and no driving between 12am and 5am.
- Full license preparation.
- You got the rules of the road down, now its time to work on getting your N. Sadly you have to be a learner for a year until you can take the 7 class road test and get an N. But when that time is up you can start by studying "turning up for drivers". When ready the test will take about 45 minutes to complete. There will be a examiner to look out for your road safety and control of car.
- Things to watch out for when driving.
- For a N driver, the road rules are the same as a learner. except you don't need a qualified supervisor and you can drive at night. But no more than one passenger other than that everything is the same.
- After driving as an N for 24 months without any prohibitions you have a chance to go take a 5 class road test to get your full license. Before hand you should re-study the learn to drive smart, turning up for drivers textbooks, even re-take the practice tests. There will be a examiner to check your car before, and will take you for a pre-set route with turning, parking, etc.
- Understanding that there will be a lot of hazards when driving will be very important, example of hazards are pedestrians, emergency vehicles, animals etc. Same goes to understanding your vehicle and having control when driving. you should easily be able to stall park, pull out into traffic, or change lines, etc. if you cannot do these things I just listed you are more than likely not to be qualified for a full license.
