I have heard you and other students are planning to wear these black armbands. If I see you wearing them tomorrow you will get suspended. This is your warning.
You can't do that! Were only peacefully protesting.
This is not fair!
The Tinker's John, Mary and their parents decided to sue the school under the kids'rights to free speech listed in the first amendment. The case was dismissed by the federal district court.
The Tinker's asked the supreme court to review their decision. The case went to the supreme court.
We the supreme court decided the students had the right to wear the armbands because it did not disrupt the education of other student and should be allowed to have their freedom of speech.We decided this way because students do not lose their right to the first amendment when they enter the school building. The vote was a 7-2 decision. In order for a school to do a banning of someone's free speech is if the school can prove that it disrupts other students' education which the armbands didn't.
