  • The Paleo people lived in New Mexico, New Mexico was different because it has grasslands, swamps, and forests caused by the glaciers that melted New Mexico also had lots of lakes and rivers. The Paleo people also would hunt large animals such as wooly mammoths, giant ground sloths, saber-tooth tigers, and more they traveled in small family groups and when they killed an animal they would set up a camp butcher it, and move on.
  • What happened to the Paleo people
  • The first evidence of Paleo people in New Mexico was discovered in northeastern New Mexico. In 1908, George McJunkin, a former slave and cowhand discovered some very large animal bones on the ranchMcJunkin tried for years to get archaeologists to visit the ranch, but no one came until the late 1920s. By then, McJunkin had died. The archaeologists who finally went to the site were amazed at what they found. Deep in a pit were the bones of several giant bison. Lodged in some of the bones were spear points. The spear points— called Folsom points
